293 SPIKE attends Ramp Riot 2019

On November 2nd and 3rd, Team 293 SPIKE attended an annual off-season competition at Wissahickon High school in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Ramp Riot event was a two-day competition where 30 teams competed in a series of qualifying matches in order to gain points and rank up. Then, alliances of 3 different teams are chosen through a process called “Alliance Selection.” Then, those 8 alliances play in a bracket, and one team will advance to the finals and win the competition. The detailed game manual can be found here. Our team competed in the qualifying matches, and were selected to be in an alliance whose captain was Team 1218. SPIKE breezed through the quarter finals, playing amazing defense and preventing the other team from scoring. However, in the semi-finals, our alliance lost. 293 SPIKE was the proud winner of the Prized Flower Award, gifted to the team because of our student-driven culture of success.
